Hello! Welcome to my site.
My name is Ferran Martinez i Coma and I am a Senior Lecturer and Director Engagement in the School of Government and International Relations at Griffith University, Queensland, Australia. Before Griffith, I worked at the University of Sydney and at the Centro de Investigaciones y Docencia Economicas (CIDE) in Mexico City.
My current research focuses in elections, electoral integrity, comparative politics, political parties and electoral behaviour. My publications have appeared, among others, in Electoral Studies, Party Politics, European Journal of Political Research, Democratization, West European Politics. You can see my publications here.
I am an applied political scientist. I have been a policy practitioner at the national - Spain's Prime Minister's office- and local level (Barcelona City Hall). I also have consulting experience for international organizations such as the Organisation of American States (OAS), and think tanks such as the Centre for American Progress (USA), Hanns Seidel Foundation (Germany, Namibia and Kenya) and Fundacion Alternativas (Spain). I currently hold a Discovery Project grant from the Australian Research Council, exploring several dimensions of turnout. My research has also been funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Queensland Electoral Commission, the Spanish Ministry of Economics, Industry and Competitiveness, and the Spanish Ministry of Education. In Mexico my research was funded by the Mexican Foreign Secretary, the Mexican Senate, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Mexico, the US Embassy in Mexico and the Open Society Foundation.
